Wallet

What the Wallet Does

The platform includes a Wallet-as-a-Service capability that allows tenants to offer customers a proprietary, closed-loop digital wallet. Funds in the wallet can only be spent within the tenant's ecosystem, making it a powerful tool for both customer acquisition and retention.

Business Value

A wallet enables tenants to run sign-up bonuses and referral programs by crediting new customers directly — increasing first-time conversion. For returning customers, refunds from returns or cancellations are credited to the wallet instantly rather than taking 1–3 days through a bank, keeping funds within the ecosystem and encouraging repeat purchases.

For variable-weight goods (for example, a grocery order that arrives slightly under weight), the platform credits the small difference to the wallet immediately, avoiding payment processing fees while keeping the customer satisfied.

Tenants can also issue goodwill credits through customer support — for example, a credit for a late delivery — turning a negative experience into a future purchase.

Wallet Compartments

Each customer has one wallet. By default, the wallet has a single compartment, but tenants can configure additional compartments to manage different types of funds with separate rules — for example, one compartment for refunds redeemable at full order value and another for promotional credits capped at a percentage of order value.

Using the Wallet at Checkout

At checkout, the platform reads the customer's available wallet balance and applies it toward the order. The remaining amount is charged to the customer's selected payment method. Customers can pay with a combination of wallet balance and card in a single transaction.

When a return is processed, the refund is credited back to the wallet (and card if applicable) in the same proportion as the original payment.

Tenant Controls

Tenants configure wallet behavior at onboarding, including default credit expiry durations, data retention periods, and whether compartments can hold credits independently. Compartment-level redemption rules — such as the maximum percentage of order value redeemable per compartment — are managed by the tenant.

Reporting

The platform provides wallet reporting at the tenant level, including GMV contribution from wallet credits, the number of customers with active wallets and outstanding balances, total credits and debits per period, and amounts expiring over time.
